PRESENTATION AND PUBLIC DISCUSSION
the concept for a longer-term dialog process between independent and institutional players in contemporary art and the Berlin Senate

Since 2011, Haben und Brauchen has been calling for an open cultural-political dialog on the situation and future of the production and mediation of contemporary art in Berlin. With the formation of the Jour Fixe Bildende Kunst on the advice of the Council for the Arts in November 2013 and the commissioning of Haben und Brauchen and bbk berlin to develop a dialog concept, the Senate Chancellery ? Cultural Affairs has now embarked on such a path.

During an internal retreat weekend in mid-February 2014, three working groups began their activities and have been developing ? with the participation of actors from other initiatives ? three building blocks for a long-term and non-partisan dialog process on the currently central issues in the areas of work, city/space and the concept of art. This is intended to supplement and further develop the urgently required adjustments to existing funding models in the visual arts.

The result was a draft concept that describes the key areas of social and cultural urban development from the perspective of artists and independent cultural producers living in Berlin, explains the background and, above all, proposes a multi-stage process that involves various players in contemporary art, groups and initiatives active in urban, social and cultural policy as well as representatives of politics and other Senate administrations.

We want to present and publicly discuss the concept paper sent out with this invitation on October 20 and hear a related statement and the plans of State Secretary for Culture Tim Renner.

Among others are: Sonja Augart, Stéphane Bauer, Leonie Baumann, Daniela Brahm, Jochen Becker, Wibke Behrens, Dellbrügge & de Moll, Discoteca Flaming Star, Matthias Einhoff, Tatjana Fell, Joerg Franzbecker, Nora Gatewood, Erik Göngrich, Michael Hauffen, Jörg Heidemann, Gabriele Horn, Philip Horst, Çağla İlk, Karl Heinz Jeron, Kerstin Karge, Sabine Köhncke, Hannah Kruse, Bernadette La Hengst, Heimo Lattner, Regina Liedtke, Herbert Mondry, Ute Müller-Tischler, Marie-José Ourtilane, Tim Renner, Christian Römer, Birgit Schlieps, Florian Schmidt, Michael Schultze, Heidi Sill, Ingrid Wagner, Marc Wohlrabe, Ina Wudtke, Moira Zoitl.
Moderation: Julia Lazarus and Florian Wüst

The event will be held in German.
